”On Friday, October 8, the UN Human Rights Council, for the first time, adopted a resolution recognizing that everyone, everywhere, has the human right to live in a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment! This is the culmination of decades of effort by civil society, and now the challenge turns to implementation!”, David R. Boyd, UN Special Rapporteur on human rights and environment.
It is declared that the UN Nations has understood the seriousness of the climate crisis. But how do we get from these fancy lofty words and promises?
Before the IPCC report was published, a number of the UN nations had no bid against specific paragraphs in the report declaring that it is urgent to face fossil fuels. Every day, we work with companies and organizations to get Solvatten out to people who live without water or anywhere near functioning infrastructure. UNHCR, Un Habitat, UNICEF, UNEP, and UNFCCC have been invaluable in supporting our work to let more citizens access safe and warm water in a portable and environmentally friendly way. There are only days before the climate summit COP26, and we hope that the world’s nations will get behind some crucial decisions to speed up the process to transform society into a sustainable future.
Happy United Nations day!
